Web Hosting Part 2
Filed Under (Tips) by admin on 31-12-2009
This is the 2nd part in a planned 5 part series on web hosting. Here’s choosing right web hosting part 1 and web host part 3. Apologies for it being a bit late with the holidays. Hopefully, you were enjoying family time and just getting back into the swing of things like I am. As stated before website hosting the foundation of your business and maybe the most important thing other than marketing.
You have to have a good business model selling or providing something a group of people want but beyond that your chosen web host can make or break you. I was just on a webinar last night with Chris Zavadowski who was raising money for www.charitywater.org which you can check out in this season.
I jumped on it because he was having some heavy hitters in the industry presenting. Guys including Ryan Deiss, Yanik Silver, Tom Beal, Mike Filsaime and more.
One of the things that multiple speakers talked about was how during big launches things go wrong…including their site going down. No matter how much money was spent sometimes things go wrong.
This may not be a big problem if you don’t plan on doing big launches but getting ahead of this problem is key. I love and operate my life by the Albert Einstein saying “Intellectuals solve problems, geniuses prevent them”.
So let’s do everything possible to prevent you having web hosting problems.
These are my affiliate links and I’m recommending them because I use them myself. If you don’t think I should get a commission for telling you about them (going through my link gets you the same deal as main page) then you can go directly to the site.
The 2nd web host that I use is hostgator. In fact, they’re about the best low budget host I’ve seen so good I have 2 different accounts with them. Why? 1 account is a reseller account so it only allows me 5 add on domains so it got maxed out quick.
A secondary but maybe more important reason is that it gets me a 2nd IP address. If you know anything about seo you’ll understand the importance of this which I’ll talk about in part 3.
As a bonus, another hosting company I’ve used in the past is bluehost. They’re pretty good and I still have some sites hosted with them on a business partner’s account. They’re also very good for the $7 or $8 per month they charge.
