The Damn Internet is Down!
Filed Under (Tips) by Traffic Guru on 15-05-2009
What do you do when your internet goes down?
Today I remembered a valuable lesson because my cable broadband internet connection was down. As much as I (and most people, probably even you) depend on the internet in today’s society this can be incredibly frustrating.
And I felt like this:
And this:
So I decided to read some pdf files which had been collecting ‘dust’ on my desktop for many months. As always when I do reading I collected some “golden nuggets” to borrow Ed Dale’s phrase via Gary Halbert.
After about 2 hours of checking it and getting continually frustrated because there are things on deadline I have to get done which require the internet (market research, setting up and tweaking a client’s yahoo search marketing PPC account) I decided to get to some of the things I’ve neglected and had scheduled for later in the week.
This blog post being a good example.
In this New Year and the first REAL work day of 2009 I wanted to start you off with a productivity enhancer. Because this situation clearly could have gotten the best of me and for part of the day did.
I know you’re probably still committed to your New Year’s Resolutions because it’s only been five days since you made them. Unless of course they were completely frivolous and you had no intention of doing them anyway.
I believe they fall under 2 categories. And myself have two categories of New Year’s resolutions. One are the ones I truly intend and will follow through on and the others are just wishes I know I probably won’t have time for.
You probably have the same system so don’t beat yourself up when you get rid of those in this latter category. Just make sure to follow through on the ones you’re truly resolute about.
One of my biggest resolutions for this new year was to really hone my focus and spend as much of my time as possible making check moves.
This is a theory developed by Michael Hewitt Gleason which basically states the more communications you make the more sales you may.
So obviously this will increase my income for this year by me following through on this resolution.
A couple of other resolutions I had were to spend at least once a week and preferrably twice a week with my sisters.
And also create better systems in my business so I can spend more of my time on the highly profitable activities of negotiating and copywriting (my own personal skill set and activities I enjoy doing) and ultimately free me up to spend less time working in my business.
And more time working on my business.
And of course more free time to enjoy life which is the whole point of building a business to improve and get more enjoyment out of the limited time you and I both have on this planet.
I implore you to strongly consider what worked for you in 2008, what you want to improve upon in 2009, and what you want to achieve in 2009.
Then ask yourself, “what activities do I have to do to achieve what I want in 2009?”
Because there’s always a value exchange in the universe… nothing is gotten for free.
And definitely write out your goals and the steps you can think of for achieving them.
One other thing…publicly stating your goals makes you vastly more likely to achieve them so I strongly urge you to put down your Main New Year’s resolution of which you are going to pursue in 2009 in the comments.
That way all of us in the TaggZilla community can cheer you on to success in achieving your goals.
