A Strange Day…And a Contest

It’s a strange and crazy day this December 10, 2008. I’m forced to wonder what’s going on with these crazy climate changes and just how powerful global warming has become.

Something is definitely changing with the climate because today here in Austin, Texas there’s some snow on the ground.

If you’re living north of the Mason-Dixon line this may be no big deal to you but in Texas we get snow about once every five to six years on average. After living here all my life I can never remember any of those three previous snows to have happened this early in the year.

As I was out and about running some errands it got me to thinking.

I was at the bank and filled out my withdrawal slip with the appropriate amount I wanted out, account information, and I even put in writing the bills I wanted back in the denominations.

I pushed the button to send it to the teller and he comes over the intercom and asks me “what kind of bills did you want?”

In these situations I always do my best to stay calm and I politely said I’ll just have such and such bills.

After retrieving the cash he comes on the intercom again and apologizes saying he didn’t see where I’d written out what kind of bills I wanted and that he was having “that kind of day”.

So I started thinking about how often we just kind of breeze through life not paying attention. How I’m sure you’ve been on one of those drives where you just went into autopilot going to a place you normally go to and you don’t even remember the drive there or back to your house.

And in this instance he was so on autopilot he didn’t even see my clear communication of exactly what I wanted.

And so I’ve been looking at the communication I’ve been having with you and wanting to improve it. Also, a good idea came to me in a discussion with my local Austin mastermind group.

We were discussing some things about how distractions block progress and how things come up which cause procrastination.

And with all the gurus out there telling you how easy it is to be an entrepreneur and have your own business I wanted to present the true story. Because I’ve never seen anything else out there like this.

So here’s what I want to do aka ‘The Contest’:

I want to get stories from real people, non-gurus, about different business struggles and triumphs you experience.
It should be a personal story about how a car wreck got you stuck in traffic and took out 2 hours of your time you had scheduled for building your business.
Or how you made a special connection with someone in your market and got a blog mention which translated to $433 in new sales for you.
400-500 words is preferrable. You can go longer if you need to

I’ll have rights to edit for clarity while keeping the meaning intact. And to add 1 other link when relevant.

These stories will be posted on the TaggZilla blog and (the most commented and best I choose) featured in the newsletter.

Also, yes you can have a 1-way link with anchor text to your main website (no Pr*on, gambling, or drug sites). I will have to approve the link to insure the integrity of the site and the power and value of the link to you.

Just stay away from the main bad 3 and have a decent site and things will be fine. I’m not planning to be real strict about it just want to keep things clean.

Basically, I want it to be real stories from real people like you and me who are in the trenches every day. TaggZilla members building their businesses.

I believe it will give hope and inspiration for people to keep climbing and keep driving forward even in the face of obstacles when they can see others like them are also experiencing similar things.

One of the biggest things I hear is how stifling the loneliness and separation can be for an at-home entrepreneur.

And so I want to make TaggZilla {link to home page here] more of an interactive community where you and me and every other member can get maximum benefit and the drive to persevere.
